12 Weeks (3 days late...)

Dear Harrison,

We have been very busy my sweet boy.  We began last week with preparations for the arrival of our friends from the UK, Pip and Jill.  I worked with Jill when we lived in the UK and Dad worked with Pip at a local pub.  So there was cleaning, shopping, etc for this.  Before their arrival we early voted as well.

The night that Pip and Jill arrived was Halloween.  I picked them up from the airport and we went straight back home to dress for the evening.  I made you an outfit but you just wore it around the house that day.  Next year we will take you trick or treating to homes of people we know and will be excited to see you all dressed up!

The following day we took Pip and Jill to Cracker Barrel, Target, Cowboy boot shopping, and picked up a few last minute items for Friday night...that evening we went to dinner and to the Honky Tonks in downtown Nashville.  We called it a early night as Friday was going to be a full day.

On Friday, we had a Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) Dinner Party.  This is Mexican holiday and also celebrated by many in the world but it is called All Saints Day.  On this day it is believed that loved ones visit the earth for the evening.  We invited our nearest and dearest on this night.  We asked for participation if possible.  Traditional dress is one of the greatest things about this holiday and the reason I wanted to have this party.  We love any reason for dressing up!!!  We decorated the house with Mexican flare complete with an offerenda where a loved one of choice was honored and cooked a spread of Mexican food.  Everything was lit by candle light so pics were harder to come by but the images will always be with me and we can recreate for you one day.

I think the night was a success...I cannot wait to throw parties for you!

You helped with the prep :)

The Ladies

Yes this is your Momma and Dad.
You did not see us like this...but one day you can look at pics.  I did not want to scare you.

Momma and Aunt BK (thank you for documenting the night...)
Pip and Jill

The Group

Missy won the Sugar Skull painting contest.

Saturday we woke bright a early to go to Knoxville to the UT game. It was an early game for we did not tailgate.  The game was exciting (too much for who we were playing)  UT came out with a win, Pip and Jill witnessed their first American football game, Reme was also in attendance and afterwards celebrated on The Strip.

Sunday Pip and Jill left to go back home.  You and I took them to the airport and then we had another adventure in store.  We went to H&M in Huntsville, AL with Barb and Carol.  It was an adventure to say the least.  We started with dropping off their pup at their mom's, picked up a prescription and were on the way.  The drive is approximately an hour and 45 minutes.  We had gotten about 30 minutes into our journey and the tire pressure in Carol's car started to drop...the next exit was 7 miles.  That doesn't seem too far but it is when you are worried about having a blowout.  It was 26 psi and by the time we hit the exit it was 11 psi.  We found a gentleman at a truck stop to change it.  The spare was not a full size so we then drove back to Franklin to swap cars with Carol's boyfriend John.  It was close to your eating time now so we pulled into a parking lot to get us from food and I fed you.  We made it on the road at 1245am...it was smooth sailing to our destination and shopping was great. You were amazing the whole day.  You cried out a few times in dislike of the music.  It was quite humorous.  We had coffee and I fed you before we headed back home.  What a whirlwind weekend...

We now have 12 days until another set of special visitors arrive.  We have time to rest and prepare for that week.  We need much rest indeed my heart.

Until then we will just be loving you as always...

xoxo~

11 Weeks

Oh Harrison...I cannot believe 11 weeks have flown by.  You are just growing and changing all the time.  You have been sleeping fanatically well for 4 weeks!  You eat every 4 hours and take your last bottle at 10pm (I have to wake you to eat) and you sleep anywhere from 430am-630am.  There were two nights it was 330am but you were waken by a storm one night and our alarm the other.  A few days I have had to wake you a 7am to get your first bottle of the day established.   You nap wonderfully too.  After some play time I lay you down in your crib and you either drift right off or talk awhile before going to sleep.  You sometimes wake mid-nap but you do not cry out so I do not disturb you.  I peek on you in a few minutes and you are asleep again.  I think some of the time you wake yourself by pulling your hair.  You started doing that this week.

This week began with a very tried Momma.  Your Dad and I along with some friends went to Atlanta over the weekend.  We went to see The Afghan Whigs at The Masquerade and went to Fright Fest at Six Flags.  It was the first night away from you and it was tough.  I missed you liked crazy and it helped to dream of a day I will take you to Six Flags.  Ironically enough while we were away you started sticking your arms straight out like Superman.  That ride will knock your socks off!!

After I got rested up, the rest of our week was filled with errands and visits.  We are preparing for some very special people to arrive from the UK.  But we did take some time to enjoy the gorgeous Fall we are having.  You loved laying in the grass and were mesmerized by the big Maple tree above.

As I begin working again on Monday, I took the opportunity this week to take you to the office to visit some ladies that just wanted to eat you up!!  You did amazingly well.  You went to two restaurants this week too.  You are becoming quite the little adventurer ;)

Today you are going to your first birthday party for one special little girl.  Her name is Averie and she loves you very much.  Even though she is turning 4 in a few days I just know you will still love to play together.  It will be a few years before she is just too cool to hang out with you...Happy Birthday A!

I love you my sweet baby boy.

10 Weeks

Dear Harrison,

You have had a busy time since you turned the ripe old age of 2 months ;)

You have been to the airport, Oktoberfest, and Cracker Barrel.  Your Dad's best friend, Mike from Montana was in town.  Your Aunt Brooke and I drove down to pick him up. You stayed awake the whole time.  It's like you knew something fun was happening.

Welcome home Mike.

Your Dad and Mike had several nights of guy stuff planned and we only joined them for Oktoberfest.  I cannot wait to take you back year after year.  You loved being outside and being with everyone.  It was a hot day so you ended up just lounging in your diaper most of the time.  You were just the perfect little man all day.

Playing with Averie

You love your Aunt Brooke.

Nap time.

Silly boys.

Uncle Steve, Stella, and Aunt Jess...she is having your future BFF Reme Lynn.

Sweetness.

Uncle Mitch...always eating ;)

Momma, can we go home now?

After Mike left we had a few days of your Dad being off of school and we used the time to relax.  Then on Wednesday you had your 2 month appointment with Dr. B.  He was so impressed with you and you handled your shots better than expected.  He was happy to hear how well you are sleeping, eating, pooping, etc.  He does not recommend we change a thing.  He mentioned cereal and he says some will tell me it is a cure all but he disagrees and says it mostly just constipates babies.  So we are just sticking to our routine my love.

You officially weigh 13.5 pounds, 23 1/2 inches long and your head circumference is 41 centimeters.  You are in the 65th percentile in weight, 61st in height and 90th in head circumference.  This means that you are above average (50th percentile being average) And your head circumference is your brain development, not just that you have a big noggin.

You might say we can get all excited over your high percentile of brain development but you cannot determine one's intelligence by a tape measure.  Everyone has potential for greatness and as your Momma I will give you the tools necessary to exceed your potential.

I love you more and more each day.

xoxo~

8 Weeks

Dear Harrison,

Today marks 8 weeks since your birth!!

I had my 8 week postpartum check up with Dr E this week.  All is well. I am happy to say I am 1 pound from my pre-pregnancy weight. Yippee. And I got my flu shot. You cannot have one until you are 6 months so until then we are trying our best to protect you and in one way is by having this vaccine.

You are sleeping like a little champ.  Last night was your first over 9 hour night.

And you are just so happy.

You are mesmerized by your keys.

You got to meet your Uncle Matthew today....my two favorite boys on the planet.

My little brother and you!

Matthew put his hat on you...melt me.

And tomorrow we will be celebrating your Dad's birthday.

I love you my sweet baby.  You amaze me.
